Dreamcatcher by Tori Glasser

Thoughts woven

Strung together with care

Laced with love

Imagination travels

Throughout the maze of threads

Vibrant colors flutter through

Life continues on

Naïve.

Wings caress the string

Pinks and Golds

Presenting blissful sleep

Shimmers the dreams for tomorrow’s common life

A trifling blue breath

Enters the gate of the braids

A sudden struggle

Her fragile body wrenched back

Venom slashes the heart

Weeping gentle hope

She slowly dies

Adding to the growing pile of souls

Three stolen everyday

By beloved hands altered through bloodied wrath

Nine ticks on a clock and another heart is bruised

Consumed by the beast

He is hungry for more

Love and hate clash in fists of rage

Darkness lunges at the web

Its cords begin to fray

Jagged teeth try to tear

Within the feeble hope

She cowers into the corner, accepting defeat

But there is a change

The mindful warrior fights back

Protecting the frail flutter

The wounded.

Black retreats into the night

A savior’s job is done

But that is not enough, for the darkness lurks on

The threads must strengthen through knowledge of the unknown

Help must remain

A voice to the voiceless

For if there is no help, there is only pain

Hidden under everyday life

Fluttering through, trying to survive

Until they are overwhelmed

Give hope and stop the suffering

Stop the pain, stop the death

Stop the nightmares.
