“Regret” -Paige Ilg

The call put me in shock
Then it put me in tears
In his moment of weakness,
He left his family and friends
In heartbreak.
There will now always be
An empty absence
In the air
We celebrate the time we had
But mourn the times he won’t be there

He distanced himself
To cause less destruction
But only left us
In wonder.
The signs were there
We were just blind.

He left his one and only love
For me to care for
I approach her as memories
Flood back to me
A look of recognition
Filled her eyes
She needed me
Just as much as
I needed her
It put me in shock
Then it put me in tears
